Trade Missions Programme
Sacoma’s primary objective for developing this unique Trade Missions concept is to create, initiate, stimulate and support in the implementing of successful trade relations between The European Union and sub-Saharan Africa. The objective is designed to increase inward and outward investments as well as sales. Our programme of trade missions consists of Missions both to sub-Saharan Africa and the European Union. The United Kingdom (UK) is the hub for the EU and Kenya is the hub for sub-Saharan Africa. The programme contains both sectoral and multi-sector visits, business development services and consultancies in Europe and Africa.
 
Overall Objective:
To facilitate exchange of experiences, learning and networking for African SMEs entrepreneurs through periods spent at companies of experienced entrepreneurs in the EU .
 
Sacoma organises the programme annually. It is strengthened by relations that are aided at a governmental level that involve African and European governments with the aim of stimulating sustainable economic development. It covers all pre trade and after specifics, content and logistics. The Trade Missions Programme form an integral part of Sacoma’s overall programme for sustainable economic development. It includes a wider perspective of Trade Missions rarely offered in the market place as described below.

Sacoma Trade Mission Programme typically involves:
Pre mission briefings, requirements, full on ground support in the local market, basic market information, mission schedule, arrangement of one to one meetings, and support in the arrangement of one’s own meetings, meeting government representatives and after mission support.

 
Promoting Africa-European partnerships enhancing the mobility of Sub-Saharan African entrepreneurs:
a)      Exchange of experience and information among entrepreneurs with regard to obstacles and challenges in the creation and development of their businesses;
Sacoma consulting services
Within the Trade Mission programme, Sacoma provides consulting services across all sectors to support new and current businesses. This is aimed to gain successful entry in foreign markets that ensure new entrants avoid high costly entry level and growth mistakes. Sacoma provides the support and coordination from a pool of professionals and specialised advisors and partnering agencies that link you to professional analysis, research and planning in all areas.
 
The consulting services include:
a)      Providing information to the smes.
b)      Promotion and searching for Host Enterpreneurs in the EU
c)      Verifying eligibility and quality of applications
d)      Pro-active matching of the relationships
e)      Local induction training
f)       Management of contracts and commitments
g)      Assistance on the practicalities / logistical support
h)      Administering financial assistance
i)       Ensuring high standards and evaluation feedback
j)       Quality control, evaluation, reporting and active networking
k)      Market analysis, market entry evaluations, plans and strategies.
l)       Appropriate and professional partner/distributor search.
 
Requirements:
a)      Be a registered profit making business, Small to Medium Enterpise (SME), NGO or   association in any sector, domicile in the European Union or sub-Saharan Africa employing less than 250 employees.
b)      Be a registered institution domicile globally with plans to investing in sub-Saharan Africa.
c)      Currently operating globally or with a view to start operating globally.
d)      Be a registered member / willingness to join the Sacoma Centre for Enterprise Business Growth membership on a yearly basis.
e)      Be ready to carry out a pre business health check within a specified period of time prior to commencing the assignment/consultancy.
f)        Ability to pay for the costs of the Trade Mission/Consultancy in the terms of agreement. In certain circumstances, Sacoma Centre for Enterprise business growth members may qualify to benefit from subsidised mission visits/consultancies.
g)      Designed exclusive group/delegations as well as individual trade visits can be organised for interested clients according to their definition.
h)      Sacoma consulting provides the first initial advice session free for interested clients before they commit to any programme.
i)        The applicant submits an application to SACOMA CFE in which he/she demonstrates his/her entrepreneurial characteristics through relevant documentation (CV, diplomas,business plan, reference letters, language skills etc.) and his/her motivation to complete a period abroad with another entrepreneur
 
Each client has to pass the following successive stages:
1. Admissibility (date, time, signatures etc.)
2. Eligibility (legal status, target group, non-profit etc.)
3. Exclusion (declaration on honour, bankruptcy etc.)
4. Selection (finances, operational capacity etc.)
 
Costs: Assignments, missions and contracts are chargeable according to the pre- defined specific needs of the clients based on which agreements and contracts are drawn. The first initial discussions aimed to determine suitability for both party and assignment are free of charge. These can be done face to face, on phone or via email.
 
Dates: SACOMA Africa-EU Trade Mission are uasually in the month of October each year.
